SMTP Error Codes (MAILER-DAEMON Codes)

If BlueTie encounters an error in the delivery of your message, an error code will be generated and provided to the sender. The following section outlines the error codes you may encounter and their meaning. Please ensure you have reviewed and understand the errors prior to opening a support ticket.

501 - Connection Refused: IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - HELO/EHLO Invalid or Non-Existent Reverse DNS
The server attempting to connect to BlueTie has an invalid or non-existent reverse DNS entry for the communicated HELO/EHLO. This error generally occurs when the sending server's DNS is configured incorrectly. You should contact your ISP for further assistance with errors of this nature.

550 - Sender Refused - Address email@domain.com - Sending Domain Name Invalid or Non-Existent A or MX Record
This error indicates that BlueTie was unable to locate a valid A or MX record for the domain listed in the portion of the bounce message. This generally means the DNS server for the domain was non-responsive or the resource records for the domain are configured incorrectly. You should contact your ISP or local network or IT administrator to correct this issue. Note: Due to the propagation time required for DNS modifications your mail may be rejected for up to 24-hours after the DNS resource records have been corrected.

550 - Mail Refused - Address email@domain.com - Recipient Unknwon
This error indicates that the user (identified in the error code to the right of "550") does not exist on the BlueTie system.  Please check the email address to ensure you have spelled it correctly.  The user may have also deleted or modified their email address.  For privacy reasons, BlueTie cannot provide member information to senders.

552 - Mail Refused: Message Size Exceeded
This error indicates that the sum of all message attachments has exceeded the maximum allowable limit of 25MB.  You may which to consider sending multiple messages with smaller attachments, or utilizing a compression software such as ZIP, RAR or TAR  t o compress the attachments to an allowable size.

554 - BL0001: Mail Refused - IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Blacklisted - Please see http://csi.cloudmark.com/reset-request/?ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
This error message indicates the sending IP address was found on the Cloudmark CSI Blacklist. A removal/reset request must be issued by the sending party. BlueTie cannot remove the sending IP address from the Blacklist. You may wish to contact your ISP for further assistance with errors of this nature.

554 - BL0002: Mail Refused - IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Blacklisted - Please see http://www.spamcop.net/w3m?action=checkblock&ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
This error message indicates the sending IP address was found on the SpamCop Blacklist. A removal/reset request must be issued by the sending party. BlueTie cannot remove the sending IP address from the Blacklist. You may wish to contact your ISP for further assistance with errors of this nature.

554 - BL0003: Mail Refused - IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Blacklisted - Please see http://sendersupport.senderscore.net/
This error message indicates the sending IP address was found on the ReturnPath Sendersore Blacklist. A removal/reset request must be issued by the sending party. BlueTie cannot remove the sending IP address from the Blacklist. You may wish to contact your ISP for further assistance with errors of this nature.

554 - BL0004: Mail Refused - IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Blacklisted - Please see http://support.bluetie.com/rbl/
This error message indicates the sending IP address was found on the BlueTie Blacklist. A removal/reset request must be issued by the sending party. You will need to fill out the necessary information in the form listed on this site. You may wish to contact your ISP for further assistance with errors of this nature.

554 - BL0005: Mail Refused - IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx has a record of excessive policy violations. Please see http://postmaster.bluetie.com/subcontent/smtpCodes.php for more details.
This error message indicates the sending IP address has been excessively violating BlueTie's inbound SMTP policies. Inbound policy violations include, but are not limited to, the following: sending to invalid recipients, excessive inbound connections, and excessive invalid "mail from" domains. You may wish to contact your ISP for further assistance with errors of this nature.
